Day and Night

Aug. 3rd, 2008 | 10:21 pm

Time alone

Supper

Alone time. Iced water and New York Cheesecake at Starbucks, Portrait of Myself, NYGH band concert, Borders, Home.

While at the National Library today I thought that I might as well take a look at the UKay exhibition which showcased 43 (i think) different personalities who lived in Singapore at some point of their lives. This guy who I happened to be standing nearby suddenly exclaimed: "I used to work under him!" and went on to chat about how much he missed photography and about how great the photos were. I wonder what's with me and the random strangers that suddenly strike up really random conversations with me, like that weird ah beng in kino.

Today I saw a guy with the most amazing pair of androgynous shoes/sandals that I've ever seen wore. They were similar to ballerina slippers tinged in a brownish beige colour, but their straps added an superb sense of masculinity. The wearer himself was lithe and tall so it looked well nice. I couldn't stop looking at them while walking home.

I don't get why this whole Xiaxue-Dawn saga has been hogging the Straits Times headlines. This isn't news, at all. We don't need stupid stories to act as page fillers.

Restraint

Jul. 31st, 2008 | 12:06 am

Hi thestarsplitter,

You've hit your monthly bandwidth limit of 100 MB, which will reset on the first day of next month. Deleting existing photos and videos in your account doesn't free up space, but if you upgrade your account all limits are removed.

Just $24.95 a year? Holy smokes! That's cheap!

Rarr. I'm tempted to cough up the USD$25, but I'm so broke at the moment. Restraint.

shooting

Jul. 30th, 2008 | 11:11 pm

Today was a day for recuperation. Spent most of the day napping and watching television after exhausting myself over the last two days. Yesterday saw me in the botanic gardens for 2 hrs crouching over flowers and insects and splaying all over the ponds, knees deep in grass and butt high in air - a very unglamourous position indeed. Haha.

I've been looking at budget airline websites for the past hour searching for cheap tickets to...anywhere really. Haha, a return ticket to Phnom Penh will cost only about $200 which is very tempting. It's unlikely that I'll be able to find a travel partner in such a short period of time and I'm all for going alone, but I doubt my parents will be enthusiastic supporters of this idea. Oh well.

insect snapping

Jul. 26th, 2008 | 12:27 am

i think i'm falling sick and im eating wayyy too much. Spent a good part of the day hanging around the PV pond, getting bitten by insects and creeping up on random insects/turtles/fishes trying to get a good shot. It took like forever before I found a bunch of insects snoozing on a few leaves. Haha, it's times like these that I miss the swans at the pool who would keep me awake with their constant hooting a few years back.

St Jean Le Cruz, beach paradise tucked away at the top of Spain

I finally got around to developing the roll of film, which I finally pried out of the camera after realising that I didn't need to force it out. The photos aren't really that pretty imo, but they speak of good memories and I'm just glad that my voigtlander isn't spoilt. Better, and more photos next time :)
